Adaptation is key in a new environment
Today marks the being of the Andela boot-camp week two, I am glad I reached this level because week one was quite challenging. It required me to adapt to a whole new workflow and of course this came with some challenges.
I was required to solve daily challenges and submit the solutions before 4:30pm. Working on the tasks was not really the problem but keeping online the entire day was, this meant having internet all the time since all submissions were online. But as always I never gave up, I got some of my savings and bought a MIFI which proved very useful.
I also got introduced to a couple of new tools both for productivity and collaboration. This meant that I had to get up to speed with using them otherwise I would have lagged behind in the team. So I dived into the getting started guides of the different tools to learn how to actually use them and this greatly enhanced my workflow.
Week one greatly boosted my self learning, this was mainly through the accelerated learning that the boot-camp demanded for me to finish the given tasks. I always had to learn something new everyday in order to accomplish the given tasks.
One of the things I was and still very grateful about is collaboration. The whole concept of a team working together to achieve the same goal while sharing knowledge and helping each other is very awesome. I managed to finish most of the challenges because I had a wide pool of people from whom I could seek help instead of figuring out very thing on my own.
